What if you had the skills to improvise an awesome Blues bass line at a jam session, to get away from set bass lines and to play creatively from your heart?
You can do this by learning clear, concise and authentic ideas from the British Blues bass players!
Hi, I’m Greg Hagger!
I’m a pro bassist and the founder of Greg's Bass Shed, where I help enthusiastic bass players like you to reach new heights with your playing.
Talking of which...I bet you took up bass because it was your life’s dream, but we both know it’s not as easy as it looks, right? Learning to groove on the bass while playing creative bass lines and locking in with the drummer can be harder than you initially thought.
Whatever frustrations you’ve got, I totally understand because, believe me I’ve been there. But after decades of study in the shed and thousands of performances onstage I figured out how to get my bass playing together and now I’m lucky enough to make my living playing all over the world and, more importantly, sharing my knowledge and experience with thousands of bass players, who’ve reported some amazing results...

"I honestly don’t need to brag about Greg or his lessons. The content that is available for free speaks volumes of the time he puts into each lesson. I didn’t think there could be more to offer than what was available already. But the time put into the course is second to none."

“Greg has a wonderful way of teaching - gentle, effective, clear, and makes playing great material accessible. His approach to sharing and giving as well as the quality of his interpretations and transcriptions, cannot be beaten."

“Hi Greg, just to say thanks for the effort you put into what you do. I'm sure there are plenty of others out there who support you and the work you do and appreciate all your efforts. A lot of care has gone into producing the lessons and other aspects so thanks very much.”
Here are a few (untrue) things that you might have been told about playing Blues bass
- You have to practice for hours a day for years before being good enough to play live
- You have to work a lot on your technique
- You have to know hundreds of songs
- Blues bass lines are boring
- You need to play the exact original bass line
- You’ll never be good enough to get up at a jam night
But there is a solution that I can give you…
I have been playing Blues for over 30 years now and I consider that studying bass players from the British Blues Explosion scene has in part, contributed to my success as a pro bass player. But what does that mean for you? Well, I’m passionate about this music and I love sharing my knowledge and passing on what skills I’ve learnt. I can show you in a very concise way how to jump to the next level with your bass playing.
You can learn a lot of useful concepts from the British Blues bassists
British Blues bass lines are anything but boring! A lot of the bass players on the scene at the time of the British Blues Explosion in the 1960’s were explosive and virtuosic and you could spend a lifetime learning their techniques, licks and fills. But I’ve done a lot of this work already and this is what I focus on passing on to you during the course.
There are shortcuts to learning to become a great Blues player
Often people will say that there are no shortcuts to learning sometime, as if you need to ‘do your time’ before you can enter the magic circle. If you just keep playing the same thing over and over then you’re gonna spend a long time achieving nothing. But systematic and focused practicing will bring you results FAST. This is not a trick, this is you accelerating your improvements by practicing things that work in every practise session.
Do you want to be able to create your own bass lines?
When you know fretboard pattern and shapes and how to utilise them, you are in a position to improvise your own bass lines and be confident in the fact that they will sound great every time. This is one of the areas that I focus on with students. There is no point just running the same bass lines over and over again and expecting results. I can help you to get ‘inside’ these iconic bass lines and extract the musical gems and ideas that you can use yourself to produce authentic Blues bass lines.
Introducing...
A deep dive into the explosive world of the British Blues bass players who were virtuosic, initiative and groundbreaking in many ways. Let me show you how to incorporate all these skills into your own bass playing so you too can become an in-demand player on your local scene!
